Jacob Daddy Logan, an 88 Year Old Golfer Works Out at the Big Vanilla Athletic Club
Pasadena, MD Jacob Daddy Logan, an 88 year old golfer, who has searched for players born 1920 – 1925 to play against him for the past ten (10) years has recently joined the Big Vanilla Athletic Club in Pasadena, Maryland to work out during the winter months in order to stay in shape and maintain his golfing stamina.
Mr. Logan’s New Years resolution was that he would not sit in the house, even while it is cold outside. To date, Mr. Logan has worked out every day for two hours on the treadmill and exercise bike. When the mercury rises in the temperature, he may work out for an hour and a half and then go and play nine holes of golf. He is encouraging seniors who are already members to work out more to improve their health and cognitive skills. Also Mr. Logan has attracted other seniors to join the Big Vanilla on a trial basis to become more active and engaged for a couple days a week. Mr. Logan said, Exercise improves your thinking, mobility and appetite. You cannot beat more stable steps and a longer stride and being around so many people pushes you to work harder.
Mr. Logan began playing golf when he retired at the age of 73. He was inspired by a television interview between Oprah Winfrey and Tiger Woods. Mr. Logan has since devoted countless hours to practice and self- improvement. In the past, Mr. Logan played all winter long in heated golf carts in an effort to keep his body ready and mind sharp.
